Trek Maroc.

I made this photo and music slideshow to talk about my passion. I discovered the trekking in Morocco in June 2008 .

I started by doing the ascent of the M’Goun 4 068 m crossing and I went down through the famous Achabou Gorges.

Since, I go on treks in different regions of Morocco.

I climb a summit, crossing a massif, a desert tour. Each trek is a new human adventure rich in discoveries !

Trek Maroc, it is to discover the country by the means of transport closest to nature and people, walking !

In Morocco, you are touched by the human dimension. In the most isolated villages, Berber traditions have remained alive.

Trek Maroc, it is to discover the Berber hospitality which is part of the customs . A shepherd prepares mint tea for you in the middle of the mountain, a farmer invites you to eat some nuts, a little bread with olive oil.

Trek Maroc, on the spot, everything is designed to supervise and accompany hikers.

A professional guide manages a local team made up of a cook, of muleteers or camelmen. They take care of all the organization and logistics. A trek, I appreciate these moments of sharing, exchange and conviviality with the local team.

Equipment such as tents, mattresses are provided. You hike "light" with the backpack containing the day's things. The trekking bag containing spare items, down etc… is transported by a mule or by a dromedary.

On this blog, you find lists of necessary equipment whether for the desert or the mountain.

Regarding the’ stewardship, a cook concocts good tagines and couscous. Just put your feet on the mat” !

I also like the sporting aspect of the trek. From the ascent of a " 4 000 », from classic trek to unlisted hike, the choice is vast in Morocco, and the levels of difficulty and physical condition are different !

Trek Maroc, a journey to take any time of the year. Indeed, Morocco offers a suitable region, whatever season you choose.

In spring, the ideal is to make a trek for a week in the Valley of Roses. It is a superb valley nestled under the foothills of the M’Goun mountains.

In May, the " Damask rose »Which borders the fields of cultivation, colors hedges and gardens, perfumes the whole valley.

During this trek Valley of Roses, you hike through typical villages. And the many fords in the river or on makeshift bridges set up by the villagers bring a playful touch to the hike. !

From June to September when the heat is scorching in the valleys, the ideal is to hike in the High Atlas mountains.

For example, I do a trek in the western high atlas. In this massif, is the top of the Toubkal 4 167 m, highest in Morocco and North Africa.

Trek Maroc, it also means going to the high central atlas massif. I climb the mythical summit of M’Goun 4 068 m. I hike in the beautiful valley Ait Bouguemez with all its villages teeming with life also called the Happy Valley.

Further away from Marrakech and little frequented by hikers, you can do a trek in the eastern high atlas. It is a region famous for its beautiful cedar forests.

This massif little visited by tourists and hikers. Possibility of making beautiful hikes off the beaten track. In this part of the High Atlas, off-trail climbs, from the peaks of Ayachi 3 757 m et du Maasker 3 277 m require a good physical effort !

Otherwise in the fall, precisely in September, it is pleasant and invigorating to take a camel trek along the Atlantic coast.

A 100 kms from Agadir, departure of the trek to join in 5 walking days Essaouira, small seaside town located 2 H 30 drive from Marrakech. You hike earlier above the cliffs, sometimes on beautiful sandy beaches. Your days are enhanced by swimming in the ocean.

In October, the trek to do is crossing the Sirou. Siroua is in the anti-atlas, between the atlas and the desert.

At this season, it's the picking of saffron, called the "red gold" of Siroua. The fields are carpeted in a mauve color, the "crocus sativus" comes out of the ground !

The hikes are easy in this massif made up of vast spaces punctuated by earthen villages and sheepfolds.. Only the ascent to the summit, the Siroua which culminates in 3 305 m presents a technical passage in climbing. But with a guide, it does not pose any problem.

Trek Maroc to do in november, it is the north-south crossing of the Saghro. An exotic trek without any difficulty not to be missed !

Le Saghro, is the pre-Saharan massif located southwest of Ouarzazate. This region is known for its fossils (trilobites, ammonites).

The Saghro delights lovers of mineral formations : tours, cliffs and tubular plateaus make up the landscape. The ascent of the highest peak of the massif, the Kaouach which culminates in 2 570 m is easy.

And during the winter season that is to say from December to March, the best plan is to go for a walk in the desert of Merzouga or in the Zagora desert.

In winter, in the desert, he does 20 at 25 degrees during the day and not too cold at night. The mercury goes down at most to 5-10 °. The skies are clear and limpid this season and therefore suitable for stargazing.

Different desert trek routes are possible from 3 at 8 days. Hiking between ergs (dunes) et regs (plateaus and ancient river beds).

Trek Maroc, no matter what season you choose to go , there is something for all tastes and for all fitness levels ! You hike along the ocean, in medium or high mountain, in the desert !

So after a first trip to Morocco, like me, you might be tempted to come back.
